Producing a nice sound is obviously very important when playing an instrument. Therefore having your guitar in tune and knowing how to do this is essential. There are many different types of tuning that you can use, all creating different sounds. The one you use will depend on what music you want to play and what sounds best to you.

Learning how to tune your guitar

Tuning your guitar is a very basic thing to do. There is a very simple method that you can use that applies to the standard tuning shown below. This method is called 'tuning using intervals'. What this tuning allows you to do is adjust your strings anywhere, anytime. This is especially helpful if say one or two strings are out of tune when your playing at a get together or something.

If your going to try some of the alternate tunings then I suggest that you get an electronic tuner.
